Dear Panther Families,
It’s incredible to think about, but we are 15 days from summer. This school year has brought forth many challenges that we have overcome and many successes to remember. To the Class of 2024, we celebrate you and congratulate you! We wish you the best as you embark on your future endeavors!
This school year we had a team of administrators, teachers, parents, coaches, and local business men and women join us in the process to design our Portrait of a Panther. The final graphic is attached. I’m proud of this final product that took a lot of collaboration and discussion. As we prepare our students to be future ready to be enrolled, enlisted, employed, or entrepreneurs, our team landed on Communication, Adaptability, Critical Thinking, and Responsibility as our core competencies to focus our efforts. These key attributes will be at the forefront of our conversations in the coming years to best prepare our students to thrive in their future careers.
A BIG CONGRATULATIONS goes to our Middle School Staff who earned the designation as an “Ohio School to Watch.” To be considered for this recognition, the school has to receive high marks in academic excellence, developmental responsiveness, social equity, and organizational structures and processes. We know that we have a high-achieving school, but it’s great to receive statewide recognition! Delta Middle School will be presented with an award in Washington, D.C. in June.
We are all done with spring testing! From all of us at PDY, thank you, parents, for your help through the testing season. I know students want to do the best they can on their test and some students have some anxiety about it. We also appreciate the extra effort to getting your students to school and well-rested and well-fed on those days. The support from you at home makes a big difference! New this year, your student’s test scores will be available on the Parent PowerSchool site. We’ll send out an email when those scores are available with instructions on how to access them. We usually receive scores around mid-June.
As I sign off for the last Super Update of the 23-24 school year, I want to express my gratitude for the warm welcome I’ve received coming into Delta. I’ve had a wonderful experience in my first year as Superintendent at PDY. I’m proud to be a Panther and I’m excited about the direction this district and this community is going.
Go Panthers!
Jon Burke, Superintendent
